[Saba Sports News] While Mercedes’George Russell has stunned the paddock with the best season start of his career, the British driver issued a stark warning: McLaren hasn’t yet unleashed its full potential. In an interview with UK media at Suzuka, Russell predicted that the scorching tracks of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia would fully unlock McLaren’s “terrifying” pace. He noted that the first three races were held in cool conditions—with team personnel even wearing jackets—but once temperatures hit 35°C in the Middle East, McLaren’s car would truly shine. Russell’s analysis highlights the MCL39’s strengths: last year, its superior tire degradation control in heat gave Red Bull headaches. Now, with technical upgrades, Russell hinted McLaren could be even faster in high temperatures. Paddock analysts agree his warning isn’t baseless—McLaren’s tech team was already reported to have secretly enhanced brake cooling systems specifically for desert races. Mercedes’ trackside engineering director, Andrew Shovlin, privately admitted their own car’s performance in extreme heat remains untested.
