[Saba Sports News] Pakistan fast-bowler Haris Rauf fired back a journalist after he alleged that the team lacks aggression when the play against India.
Replying to the reporter’s question, Rauf said that the two sides only a play a cricket match and do not engage in a war.
“Why should I go and fight with Indians? It is cricket and not war,” Rauf commented.
The 29-year-old was also asked about his fitness in the press conference. He revealed that he is raring to go and there is nothing wrong with respect to his fitness.
For the unversed, Rauf did not feature in India versus Pakistan Super Four fixture of the Asia Cup 2023 on the reserve day. He complained of discomfort near his abdomen area and also did not play the following match versus Sri Lanka which Pakistan lost, and therefore got knocked out of the tournament.
“Playing in any tournament for your country is a big deal. My fitness is better than before. We have confidence in ourselves as a team. The team management will decide whether to give me the new ball or the old ball,” he added.
With Naseem Shah ruled out of the upcoming World Cup, Rauf’s performance in the competition could decide Pakistan’s fate. The Men in Green will start their campaign versus the Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad.
