[Saba Sports News] According to Italian media, legendary Red Bull engineer Adrian Newey, who is leaving at the end of this season, has chosen to join Aston Martin instead of accepting Ferrari’s offer. The primary reason for Newey’s decision, besides salary, was the decision-making authority granted by Aston Martin. Ferrari had been recruiting Newey since last year’s Italian Grand Prix, with no issues regarding salary. However, Newey wanted certain leadership decision-making powers, such as hiring new engineers and managing technical partnerships, which Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur did not agree to. Consequently, the negotiations ended without agreement. Newey, a highly influential designer in F1, is the only engineer to have won the constructors’ championship with three different teams. His designs have secured numerous race wins, driver championships, and constructors’ titles.
