[Saba Sports News] Jalen Williams is headed to his first Western Conference Finals, but he’s doing so with a $25,000 fine from the NBA in tow.
The league announced Monday that the Oklahoma City Thunder forward was fined for wearing clothing featuring profane language during his postgame media availability on Sunday. After the Thunder’s dominant 125-93 Game 7 win over the Denver Nuggets, Williams wore a T-shirt that read, “F–k art, let’s dance.”
Despite the celebratory moment and Williams’ standout performance — 24 points, five rebounds, and seven assists on 10-of-17 shooting — the NBA took issue with the explicit content on his shirt. The league rarely penalizes players for their fashion choices, but Williams’ shirt crossed the line due to the uncensored profanity.
Williams had faced criticism for a poor Game 6 showing but bounced back in a big way to help propel OKC to the conference finals. While his play spoke volumes, the league made it clear his postgame outfit also spoke — just a bit too loudly.
