[Saba Sports News] Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaylen Wells was stretchered off the court Tuesday after a frightening fall during a game against the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
The incident occurred late in the second quarter with 1:11 remaining, as the Grizzlies held a 60-44 lead.
Wells went up for a transition dunk when Hornets guard KJ Simpson made contact, fouling Wells midair. The collision caused Wells to flip horizontally and land hard, striking his head on the court.
One reporter noted that Wells appeared to move his hand while being taken off the floor, offering a small sign of encouragement.
Wells, a rookie second-round pick from Washington State, was making his 74th start of the season. Before the injury, he had recorded 3 points and 5 rebounds in 11 minutes of play.
