[Saba Sports News] Jayson Tatum had a challenging Olympic experience and reflected on how it might affect his decision to play for Team USA in 2028.
Tatum described the 2024 Olympics as “humbling,” noting that he was benched for two games due to matchups. While he was proud to be part of the gold medal-winning team, he said he would need time to consider his future with Team USA.
“It was tough personally, but I’m not making any decisions based on emotions,” Tatum told ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “If you ask me now about 2028, it’s four years away, and I need to think about it.”
Coach Steve Kerr faced criticism for how he handled Tatum, who acknowledged support from back home but found it difficult to use the experience as motivation in the moment.
Tatum played 11 minutes in the gold medal game, contributing two points and three rebounds, and he wasn’t the only Team USA star to be rotated in and out of the lineup.
