[Saba Sports News] With about a month left before the 2024-25 NBA season, JJ Redick has already decided on the Los Angeles Lakers’ starting five.
On “The Lowe Post” podcast with ESPN’s Zach Lowe, Redick confidently named the starting lineup for the Lakers’ season opener against the Timberwolves on Oct. 22. He chose the same group that went 23-10 last season: Anthony Davis, LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, Austin Reaves, and D’Angelo Russell. No surprises here, as they are widely considered the Lakers’ top players.
Last season, former coach Darvin Ham was criticized for not starting this lineup earlier, despite the Lakers’ struggles. Once the switch was made, they surged into the play-in tournament, leaving many to wonder what could’ve been had Ham adjusted sooner.
Redick also dismissed concerns about the Lakers’ depth, believing he’ll face “tough decisions” with their improved younger players. One such player is expected to play a major role in his first season under Redick.
