[Saba Sports News] With the successful conclusion of the Paris World Championships, most national teams achieved commendable results, with the exception of Indonesia, whose performance in this year’s tournament was truly disappointing. Their best result was a bronze medal in women’s singles, while all other players were eliminated early. After the tournament, Indonesian badminton star Jonatan Christie suggested in a media interview that the Indonesian team should learn from the Chinese team. Christie cited the examples of the Chinese Badminton Association and the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association, noting their deep talent pools in men’s singles which give them strong confidence on the international stage. He pointed out that having many players of similar skill levels allows them to train together, learn from each other, and improve collectively, fostering a positive competitive environment. He hopes the Indonesian men’s singles division can learn from this successful model to build a vibrant and competitive team, which would be beneficial for the long-term development of Indonesian badminton. By studying China’s talent development model and team-building experience, Indonesia can hopefully cultivate more excellent young players, narrow the gap with top competitors, and enhance its competitiveness on the international stage.
