[Saba Sports News] Jonathan Isaac is returning to the Orlando Magic on a long-term deal, but with some protections for the team.
According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, Isaac’s new five-year, $84 million contract includes a renegotiation of his 2024-25 salary and adds four more years, keeping him in Orlando until at least 2028-29.
The Magic are protected in the third through fifth years of Isaac’s deal. His $14.5 million salary for 2026-27 becomes fully guaranteed if he plays at least 52 games during the 2025-26 season. If he doesn’t, the Magic can waive him and owe only $8 million for the remaining three seasons.
This arrangement makes sense given Isaac’s injury history. The 26-year-old, drafted sixth overall in 2017, has played just 205 games and missed the entire 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons due to a torn ACL.
When healthy, the 6-foot-10 Isaac is a defensive asset for Orlando, averaging 6.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 15.8 minutes per game last season with strong shooting splits. However, if injuries persist, the Magic can part ways with him by 2026 with minimal financial impact.
