[Saba Sports News] The inaugural 2025 BWF Outdoor Badminton World Cup is set to take place from December 11th to 14th in Sharjah, UAE, with just under six weeks remaining. This landmark event marks a new era for badminton, showcasing the dynamic sport of outdoor badminton on a global stage. Through a rigorous selection process, 12 teams have successfully qualified for the inaugural Outdoor Badminton World Cup. Up to 96 athletes will compete across three categories: Men’s Triples, Women’s Triples, and Team Relay. Participating teams includes: Australia, Germany, Azerbaijan, Hong Kong China, Brazil, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Nigeria, China, United Arab Emirates (Host), Egypt, Venezuela. These teams include traditional badminton powerhouses as well as vibrant new outdoor badminton teams, highlighting the sport’s growing global influence. Triples Format: Matches are best-of-five games, with each game won by the first side to reach 9 points. If the score reaches 8-8, a side must lead by 2 points to win; if the score reaches 12-12, the next point decides the game. Each match allows a maximum of 3 substitutions Team Relay Format: Each team match consists of four games — Women’s Doubles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Triples, Men’s Triples. Each game is played to 15 points, with scores accumulated relay-style. The first team to reach a total of 60 points wins the match. Each player can participate in a maximum of two games per team match.
