[Saba Sports News] The highly anticipated 32nd Korean Badminton Association presidential election recently concluded, with badminton legend Kim Dong-moon winning the presidency with 64 out of 154 valid votes. The incumbent president, Kanazawa Kei, received only 43 votes and failed to be re-elected, marking a significant drop in his support. An Se-young, the Olympic women’s singles gold medalist, has been vocal about her dissatisfaction with the Korean Badminton Association’s inaction since her victory, highlighting long-standing bullying from coaches and seniors. She even opted to attend a basketball game rather than participate in the Korean team’s Olympic celebration ceremony. Despite Kanazawa’s repeated assurances of improvement, he clearly could not secure re-election. Kim Dong-moon, 49, is the first badminton player in Olympic history to win gold in two different events. After retiring, he moved to Canada to work in badminton, learn English, and pursue a postdoctoral degree. He has now returned to Korea and is currently a professor in the Department of Sports Science at Yeonsei University.
