[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Roy Keane expressed his apologies to Harry Maguire in an interview, acknowledging his previous behavior of mocking Maguire. Maguire has faced criticism from pundits in recent years for his performances at Manchester United and for the England national team. Keane stated, “I was very tough on Maguire for football-related reasons. He clearly struggled in many games for Manchester United and had a difficult time with the England national team. We should consider the mental health of players, as our remarks crossed Maguire’s boundaries, which was somewhat excessive. I met Maguire a few months ago and personally apologized to him.” In May 2021, after Manchester United lost 0-5 to Liverpool, Keane criticized Maguire and accused him of lacking professionalism. Following that game, Maguire publicly apologized to Manchester United fans in a post-match interview. This incident was the reason behind Keane’s criticism of Maguire.
