[Saba Sports News] Kevin Durant didn’t hold back during Team USA’s 103-86 win over South Sudan in the group stages of the 2024 Paris Olympics. As Team USA cruised to a blowout victory, Durant had choice words for the South Sudanese team and their head coach, Royal Ivey, saying, “Y’all ain’t tough.”
Coming off the bench, Durant scored 14 points (2-5 FG, 2-2 3PT) in the win. He is currently shooting 100% from three in Paris 2024, having gone 5-5 from beyond the arc in Team USA’s win over Serbia.
Durant’s comments were mostly in good humor, as he has a relationship with Coach Ivey, who is the lead assistant for the Houston Rockets. Ivey has utilized a talented generation for South Sudan’s national team, which was officially recognized in 2016 and is making its first Olympic basketball appearance.
Despite Durant’s trash-talk, South Sudan is well-positioned to advance to the quarter-finals. Their next game against Serbia will be challenging, but they could still qualify with a loss depending on the outcome of the Brazil-Japan game in Group B.
