[Saba Sports News] Kevin Garnett and his girlfriend, Teare Candelier, were reportedly involved in a heated argument late last month that led to police being called to their Los Angeles-area home.
According to sources, Candelier dialed 911 shortly before 2 a.m. on April 27, reporting a confrontation between her and the former NBA star. By the time authorities arrived, Garnett had already left the residence. A police report was filed, and although Candelier was offered medical assistance, she declined.
Sources revealed that the dispute did not escalate into a physical altercation, aside from Garnett moving Candelier aside as he attempted to leave the situation. Both parties later expressed regret over the incident and acknowledged that it was handled poorly.
On Sunday, the couple released a joint statement addressing the matter.
“We deeply regret that a personal disagreement escalated and inappropriately involved authorities,” the statement read. “It was never our intention to involve others in a moment that should have remained private. Like most couples, we have disagreements, but our commitment to each other remains strong, and we move forward with renewed respect, understanding, and love.”
Garnett, 48, is a 15-time NBA All-Star and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020. He spent the bulk of his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves before winning an NBA title with the Boston Celtics and finishing his career with brief stints in Brooklyn and Minnesota.
Despite a past rift with the Timberwolves organization, Garnett has reportedly mended that relationship in recent years.
