[Saba Sports News] According to Autoracing1.com, Adrian Newey will join the Aston Martin F1 team with a three-year, $100 million contract, instead of the four-year contract previously reported by the Italian magazine Autosprint. Due to the budget cap, Red Bull Racing was unable to continue paying Newey’s high salary. It is reported that the drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, as well as Team Principal Christian Horner, are the top three highest earners within the Red Bull Racing team, outside of the budget cap, while Newey’s salary is accounted for within the budget cap. At the Aston Martin team, driver Lance Stroll’s annual salary may be as low as $1. This is because the team is owned by his father, who is very wealthy, and if Stroll needs money, he can simply ask his father for it. Therefore, Newey can become one of the three highest-paid employees at the Aston Martin team without being restricted by the budget cap. This information has been confirmed by multiple media outlets. In addition to the salary, Autoracing1.com stated that another key factor for Newey’s joining is that the Aston Martin team built an advanced factory last year, including a new wind tunnel laboratory.
