[Saba Sports News] On January 19, a spokesperson for the Korean Badminton Association announced that the election management committee decided to hold the presidential election from 10 AM to 5 PM on the 23rd. Kim Taek Soo, who restored his candidacy through legal proceedings, issued a statement accepting the committee’s decision and will participate in the election. Among candidates numbered 4 to 10, President Kim ultimately chose number 4. Kim revealed that continuing legal disputes could almost guarantee another deadlock in the election for the Badminton Association presidency. However, as someone who deeply loves Korean badminton, he concluded that this should not be the case. Records show that Kim was elected as the 31st president of the Korean Badminton Association in 2021 and planned to challenge for re-election in the next election originally scheduled for January 16. However, his candidacy was revoked by the election management committee. Subsequently, Kim filed for a temporary injunction and restored his candidacy through a court ruling.
