[Saba Sports News] Although the Day 2 of the ongoing Test being played between India and South Africa in Centurion belonged to the hosts, KL Rahul’s remarkable century stood out from the lot.
Continuing from the overnight score of 70, Rahul pummelled the South African pacers, adding important runs to India’s total, which also took him to his seventh Test hundred in the process.
Rahul’s 137-ball 101 came at a time when India needed a batter to step up after being reduced to 121-6. His sensational knock not only helped the visiting side to record a total of 245 runs in the first innings but also made him an owner of quite a few significant milestones.
The 31-year-old became the only visiting batter to score two tons in Centurion. He had amassed 123 runs in the 2021 Test held at the SuperSport Park.
Moreover, in what is a unique feat, he now stands as the only player to score a fifty in his first game as a wicket-keeper across the formats.
He scored 80 runs in an ODI versus Australia in 2020 when he played as a wicketkeeper-batter. In his debut T20I as a gloveman in 2021 against New Zealand, he smashed 56 runs.
