[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks acquired Karl-Anthony Towns in a blockbuster trade, hoping he’ll be the final piece for a championship run.
Known for his three-point shooting, Towns struggled early in the preseason game against the Washington Wizards, missing his first five three-point attempts.
However, his confidence remained unshaken, and he finally connected on his sixth attempt, celebrating with a relieved sigh.
Despite going just 1-for-7 from beyond the arc, Towns still led the team with 25 points in the Knicks’ 117-94 win. He also added 12 rebounds, two assists, a steal, and two blocks in 28 minutes, showcasing the all-around impact the Knicks expect from him.
Towns will play a key role alongside Jalen Brunson, who leads a starting lineup featuring elite defenders Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby, versatile playmaker Josh Hart, and now, one of the NBA’s top offensive centers.
However, the Knicks’ depth will be a question mark, as they sacrificed bench strength to upgrade their starting lineup. Against the Wizards, Cameron Payne and rookie Tyler Kolek made strong cases for backup roles, scoring 14 and 15 points, respectively.
