[Saba Sports News] Despite all the adversity they’ve faced this season, the Dallas Mavericks kept their playoff hopes alive on Wednesday — and Kyrie Irving made sure to show his support.
The Mavericks defeated the Sacramento Kings 120-106 in their play-in tournament matchup at Golden 1 Center. With the win, Dallas moves on to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday for a shot at the playoffs, while Sacramento’s season comes to an end.
Irving, who has been sidelined with a torn ACL since early March, took to social media after the win to praise his team.
“Yessir @dallasmavs way to handle business tonight!! MFFL Tribe,” Irving posted on X.
Though he won’t return to the court anytime soon, Irving is clearly staying connected and invested in the team’s playoff push.
Anthony Davis led Dallas with 27 points and exchanged words with some Kings fans late in the game. He had the last laugh, delivering a parting shot as the Mavericks closed out a convincing win.
Many assumed Dallas was finished after trading Luka Doncic and losing Irving to injury. Davis was also banged up at the time, prompting speculation that the team would shut him down too. Instead, the Mavericks have continued to fight and are now just one win away from facing the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round.
