[Saba Sports News] Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht has officially received Uncle Snoop’s stamp of approval.
In a breakout performance during Thursday’s preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, Knecht dropped 35 points, including a 20-point streak, helping the Lakers secure a 128-122 overtime win. His clutch off-the-dribble three over the 7-foot Bol Bol in the final seconds sent the game into OT.
Impressed by the 23-year-old’s show, hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg gave Knecht a new nickname on ESPN’s “First Take”: “Westside Knecht,” a nod to the legendary Westside Connection rap group led by Ice Cube.
Snoop, a longtime Lakers fan and L.A. legend himself, has elevated the former Tennessee star’s nickname game, and “Westside Knecht” might just stick as his official Lakers moniker.
