[Saba Sports News] The injury bug just won’t leave LaMelo Ball alone.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Charlotte Hornets star will be re-evaluated in a week after suffering a left ankle sprain during Monday’s loss to the Lakers.
Ball rolled his ankle in the first half after stepping on Lakers forward Jarred Vanderbilt’s foot while backpedaling after a three-pointer. He exited the game and did not return as Charlotte fell 112-107.
Despite being just 23 years old, Ball has struggled with recurring ankle injuries throughout his career—even making adjustments last offseason to better protect them. Unfortunately, his bad luck struck again just as he was enjoying a career-best season, averaging 28.2 points per game.
With the NBA All-Star break about two weeks away and the Hornets sitting at 12-32, the team may choose to play it safe and keep Ball sidelined until the second half of the season.
