[Saba Sports News] LaMelo Ball and the Charlotte Hornets are being sued by the mother of a boy who claims Ball drove over and broke her son’s foot.
WSOC-TV in Charlotte reported on Tuesday that Tamaria McRae, the mother of Hornets fan Angell Joseph, has filed a lawsuit against Ball and the Hornets. McRae alleges that the incident occurred on October 7, 2023, during the Hornets’ annual Purple and Teal Day.
According to McRae, she and her then 11-year-old son (now 12) were outside the Spectrum Arena hoping to get an autograph from Ball. McRae claims that Ball did not sign autographs and sped away, running over Joseph’s foot, which resulted in a broken foot for the boy.
McRae also mentioned that the police report about the incident lacked critical information, such as Ball’s name and insurance details. Additionally, she is suing the Hornets, alleging that the team failed to protect fans who were trying to approach the players.
This is not Ball’s first controversy regarding his driving. Last year, a video compilation of Ball’s reckless driving outside the Spectrum Center went viral. While this video does not prove the current allegations, it has negatively affected public perception of his driving habits.
