[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has been charged with fraud, and the court has summoned him to be investigated next week. Reports indicate that in 2014, a family in Spain won a €34 million lottery and subsequently, on Laporta’s personal recommendation, invested €2.4 million in a company linked to him, CSSB Limited, for a two-year contract with an annual interest rate of 6%. However, upon the contract’s expiration, the family did not receive the agreed-upon payment and, after unsuccessful attempts to recover their funds, took Laporta and others to court. The family stated that they trusted Laporta due to his public figure status and that he had repeatedly invited them to the VIP box at Camp Nou, but he allegedly exploited their “lack of experience” in financial matters. Currently, there are four lawsuits related to investment fraud by CSSB Limited filed in Barcelona courts. The Sixth Preliminary Investigation Court of Barcelona has summoned Laporta and two other individuals involved in the CSSB Limited investment case for questioning next Monday.
