[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Barcelona presidential candidate Laporta made another controversial gesture from the stands at home during this round of La Liga matches. In the previous Round 26 La Liga game, Barcelona beat Villarreal 4-1 at home. Laporta arrived at the Camp Nou to watch the match accompanied by his entourage. The distance from his hotel to the Camp Nou is only 300 meters, but it took him 15 minutes to cover the short journey due to the warm welcome from fans along the way. He entered the stadium through Gate K and watched the game from the side stands. When Barcelona fans at the Camp Nou chanted their traditional slogan “Jump, jump, jump! If you don’t jump, you’re a Madrilenian!”, Laporta jumped along with the whole crowd. Overcome with emotion, he also made a butifarra gesture—an offensive hand gesture in which one elbow is bent and the other hand is placed on top of it.
The editor believes that as the president of a football club, you ought to maintain the proper gentlemanly demeanor and class when you put on a suit and stand in front of the stands. Making indecent gestures on one side and swearing on the other—at least in front of the cameras, Laporta has failed to meet the standards expected of him.
