[Saba Sports News] New Zealand rookie Liam Lawson, who will be promoted to the Red Bull team next year, has been stirring controversy since entering F1. In the 2024 season, while representing Red Bull’s second team, Lawson offended several veterans, including Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, and Carlos Sainz. After officially securing a seat with the Red Bull first team, Lawson has become even less deferential to these senior figures. Next season will see several young drivers making their F1 debuts, including Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Gabriel Bortoleto, Isack Hadjar, and Jack Doohan. However, Lawson believes one person truly deserves an F1 seat—Brazilian driver Felipe Drugovich, who is part of Aston Martin’s youth program. Lawson noted that Drugovich finished third in the practice session at last year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, and in his opinion, Drugovich’s speed was even faster than Alonso’s. Clearly, Lawson is suggesting that Alonso should voluntarily step aside for Drugovich.
