[Saba Sports News] According to racing media Racing News365, Liam Lawson will partner with Richard Wood, Sergio Perez’s former performance engineer. It has been reported that Lawson’s engineer at Red Bull’s second team, Pierre Hamelin, will not follow him to the first team. For the 2025 season, he will work with Richard Wood, who previously served as Perez’s performance engineer and acted as Perez’s race engineer during several races in 2024 while race engineer Hugh Bird was on paternity leave. Records show that Wood is a veteran of the Red Bull team, having joined in October 2012, initially working in the team’s race strategy department. Wood has since progressed within the team, serving as an analyst, race support engineer, and simulator performance engineer before finally becoming a performance engineer. Red Bull also confirmed to Racing News365 that Gianpiero Lambiase will continue as Max Verstappen’s race engineer. They have been partners since Verstappen first drove for Red Bull at the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix.
