[Saba Sports News] Malaysian men’s singles player Lee Zii Jia made his comeback at the Malaysian Open, but unfortunately was eliminated in the first match, facing a first-round exit. Reflecting on his performance in his return match, Lee candidly rated himself between 5 and 6 out of 10, stating that he has not yet returned to 100% fitness, but being able to play the entire match is still a positive outcome.
Lee revealed that he did his best, especially in the second game where he tried to change his tactics, but his physical condition may not have met the standards, leading to a few mistakes and slower reactions. Despite the disappointing result, the enthusiasm of the home crowd deeply moved him, and in the post-match interview, he especially thanked the fans for their support.
Regarding his upcoming schedule, Lee emphasized that the India Open and Indonesia Masters are crucial for him and that he hopes to gradually regain his competitive rhythm through these high-level events. As for his goals this year, Lee expressed a desire to return to the top 20 or 15 in men’s singles rankings by the end of the year, while stressing that maintaining good health is the most important thing.
To achieve this, Lee has registered for four tournaments in January: the Malaysian Open (January 6-11), the India Open (January 13-18), the Indonesia Masters (January 20-25), and the Thailand Masters (January 27-February 1). He hopes to improve his world ranking as soon as possible to ensure he can participate in higher-level tournaments on the world tour later on.
