[Saba Sports News] In March of this year, Leicester City was charged by the Premier League for violating the £105 million loss limit during the period leading up to the 2022-23 season. Subsequently, Leicester City appealed. Leicester City’s appeal was based on the argument that since the club had become a member of the Championship after being relegated that season, the Premier League had no authority to take action against them; however, this appeal was rejected at the first independent committee meeting in March. Recently, Leicester City officially announced that they have won their appeal. Leicester City stated: The club welcomes the comprehensive ruling of the appeals committee, which supports the club’s consistent position that any actions against the club should be conducted according to applicable rules. To avoid any misunderstandings that may arise from statements made by the Premier League regarding the appeal decision, Leicester City wishes to emphasize the appeals committee’s ruling that when considering the wording actually used in Premier League rules (according to established principles of UK law), the club did not violate the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) as assessed up until June 30, 2023.
