[Saba Sports News] November 9th – The opening ceremony of China’s 15th National Games was held at the Guangdong Olympic Sports Centre. On November 10th, Chinese badminton player Liang Weikeng posted online to share his feelings about being a torchbearer for the first time. Liang expressed that this was his first time serving as a torchbearer. Being able to participate in the torch relay for the National Games held in his hometown, and at the opening ceremony site no less, left him unable to describe his inner excitement in words. Liang Weikeng pointed out that being a torchbearer is a lifelong honor that will inspire him to be more daring and tenacious on the court. He pledged to continue working hard, fighting tenaciously, and living up to everyone’s expectations. Information shows that Liang Weikeng is a “post-00s” badminton player born in Baiyun District, Guangzhou. In 2023, he became the ninth world champion in Guangzhou’s badminton history. The men’s doubles pair he formed with his partner Wang Chang once climbed to world No. 1 and won the silver medal in badminton men’s doubles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. On October 31st this year, Guangzhou announced the first list of “City Promotion Ambassadors,” and Liang Weikeng was selected as a popular choice.
