[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, the company owned by former Manchester United player Jesse Lingard has debts as high as £1,562,092 and has been ordered into liquidation by the court. Having failed to settle large outstanding bills, Lingard’s company JL Commercial Limited has received a winding-up order. Legal proceedings against the company began in August, followed by a hearing at the High Court. The liquidation petition was filed by the law firm Pinsent Masons, to which Lingard’s company owes money. The 33-year-old midfielder set up the company in 2018 to manage his brand’s commercial interests and trademark matters, including his “JLingz” clothing line and his iconic “JL” goal celebration. The player had previously registered trademarks covering clothing, footwear, headwear, and his goal celebration gesture. The latest financial statements for the company show debts amounting to £1,562,092, including a bank loan of £22,500 and £36,602 in unpaid tax owed to HM Revenue & Customs.
The editor believes that Jesse Lingard was once one of the most notable players in English football. Today, however, his career and life have been on the decline. Earlier, Corinthians signed Lingard to a contract until December 2026. It is hoped that, away from all the noise, Lingard can now focus on playing football.
