[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Liverpool fan group The Spirit of Shankly has announced it will stage protests in and around Anfield against the club’s planned ticket price increases, starting with the home fixture against Fulham. The group has also called on fans to boycott matchday spending and delay renewing season tickets in a bid to send a message to the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group. The club recently announced that ticket prices will rise in line with inflation over the next three seasons. A 3% increase will take effect in the 2026–27 campaign. Standard adult matchday tickets, currently priced between £39 and £61, will rise by £1.25 to £1.75 per game. Adult season tickets, currently costing between £713 and £904, will increase by £21.50 to £27, equivalent to a maximum rise of £1.42 per match. This has prompted an angry response from the Liverpool Fans’ Council, which had previously called for a two-year freeze on ticket prices.
The editor believes that the fans have made their position very clear, and their protests will go ahead. If the club fails to listen to the fans, they will make sure their voices cannot be ignored. The Fans’ Council has now formally notified the club, and the actions are imminent.
