[Saba Sports News] In a recent Champions League match, a conflict occurred between Liverpool fans and Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, leading to the latter being sent off with a red card. After the match, Simeone explained: “They always talk about mutual respect, but they insulted me throughout the entire match, and as a coach, you can’t say anything. My reaction was unacceptable, but do you know what it feels like to be insulted for 90 minutes straight? Even after the opponent scores, you turn around and are still insulted. It’s not easy.” However, the involved Liverpool fan, Johnny Bode, posted a video on social media accusing a member of Atletico Madrid’s coaching staff of spitting at him: “Regarding the incident with Simeone last night, I want to clarify; I think he was a bit cowardly. When he was asked in the post-match press conference if topics like racial discrimination or the Falklands War were involved, he left without answering, which has led to a lot of speculation. I did not say anything racially discriminatory, nor did I mention the Falklands War. When they equalized, their assistant coach shouted at us, we shouted back, and then their assistant coach came over and spat at me.” UEFA will now investigate the incident, including the allegation of a coach spitting at a fan.
