[Saba Sports News] Lonzo Ball has yet to make a playoff appearance in his NBA career, but that could change soon.
According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Chicago Bulls guard is attracting interest from three potential playoff teams ahead of this week’s NBA trade deadline: the Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies.
After missing over two-and-a-half years due to injury, the 27-year-old Ball has returned to a solid bench role for Chicago, averaging 7.2 points and 3.5 assists in 21.3 minutes per game while shooting 34.8% from three. His defensive presence has also been a key factor in his resurgence.
With a 21-29 record, the Bulls may be shifting toward a rebuild, especially after trading Zach LaVine over the weekend. Ball, set to become a free agent this summer, presents a low-risk trade asset for contending teams.
Each of his potential suitors has a reason to be interested. The Timberwolves, currently seventh in the West, have struggled defensively and seen a decline from 37-year-old starting point guard Mike Conley.
The Pistons, seventh in the East, are set at point guard with Cade Cunningham but recently lost Jaden Ivey to a serious leg injury. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies, sitting at No. 2 in the West, could use additional depth at point guard with Ja Morant missing significant time this season.
Ball, the former No. 2 overall pick, has been with Chicago since 2021, but trade rumors have followed him for years. Now, with his return to the court, a move before the deadline seems increasingly possible.
