[Saba Sports News] It’s well known that Luka Doncic is struggling with injuries, but he’s pushing through.
Tim MacMahon of ESPN reported Tuesday that the Dallas Mavericks star received a painkilling injection before Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics on Sunday. The injection was to numb his chest area, where he has a thoracic contusion. Doncic is expected to get another shot before Game 3 on Wednesday, MacMahon adds.
A viral video before Game 2 showed Doncic in visible discomfort with his chest. The 25-year-old has also been dealing with various lower-body injuries during Dallas’ playoff run and is practically being wrapped up like a mummy before games.
Despite his injuries, Doncic’s health is not the Mavericks’ biggest issue as they are down 0-2 to the Celtics. Doncic is averaging an efficient 31.0 points per game in the series, but his supporting cast, especially Kyrie Irving, has underperformed. Interestingly, the Celtics are also dealing with a significant injury concern ahead of Game 3.
