[Saba Sports News] Yesterday, the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports summarized the performance of the Malaysian delegation at the Paris Olympics and the Paris Paralympics. During the summary, the Malaysian Badminton Association apologized for failing to achieve its goal of winning gold medals. In the badminton events at the Paris Olympics, the Malaysian delegation won two bronze medals through Lee Zii Jia in men’s singles and the men’s doubles pair of Aaron Chia Teng Fong and Soh Wooi Yik. At the Paris Paralympics, the Malaysian delegation achieved a result of 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze, with one gold medal coming from badminton star Cheah Liek Hou. In response, Malaysia’s badminton head coach Rexy Mainaky noted that Lee Zii Jia and the duo of Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik performed comebacks to secure bronze medals, while Tan Pearly and Thinaah Muralitharan reached the women’s doubles semifinals, creating history. Although they did not win gold, these performances are still commendable. In the future, the Malaysian Badminton Association will strengthen its investment in badminton and continue to strive for Olympic gold medals.
