[Saba Sports News] According to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe, Malcolm Brogdon’s situation with the Celtics has raised concerns. In a recent appearance on CLNS Media’s ‘Celtics Beat’ podcast, Washburn mentioned that Brogdon is expressing frustration with the team due to a failed trade during the offseason.
Washburn stated, ‘He’s upset with the team. Communication between the two parties hasn’t been productive… Malcolm Brogdon was unhappy with the trade, even the possibility of it. He was genuinely disappointed… He might understand the situation, but that doesn’t mean he’s not distressed by how it unfolded. I was informed that he was dissatisfied with the way things transpired.’
Initially, the Celtics had agreed to trade Brogdon, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year, to the LA Clippers in a three-team deal in June, which included the return of big man Kristaps Porzingis to Boston. However, the trade fell apart after the Clippers raised concerns about Brogdon’s health.
Subsequently, the Celtics arranged a new three-team trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, still acquiring Porzingis but parting with Marcus Smart.
Consequently, Brogdon remains on the Celtics’ roster, creating an awkward situation as the training camp approaches.
Brogdon had an impressive season with Boston, averaging 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Even before the attempted trade with the Clippers, there were strong indications that the Celtics were looking to move on from Brogdon.
It appears that Brogdon is well aware of his standing with the team and is not pleased.
