[Saba Sports News] Malik Beasley isn’t holding back when it comes to facing off against a former teammate in the postseason.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the Detroit Pistons’ first-round playoff series against the New York Knicks, Beasley was asked about going up against Knicks forward Karl-Anthony Towns — his former teammate on the Minnesota Timberwolves from 2020 to 2022. Beasley made it clear he’s not losing any sleep over it.
“I’m not worried about KAT,” Beasley said. “I don’t even think about him… He’s the least of my worries.”
Rather than offering a respectful nod to Towns’ talent, Beasley took the opportunity to dismiss the All-Star outright — continuing a pattern of sharp remarks toward former teammates. Just last week, Beasley was feuding publicly with another ex-teammate.
Beasley and the Pistons are coming off a stunning turnaround season, finishing 44-38 to grab the No. 6 seed in the East after winning just 14 games last year. Beasley played a major role, averaging 16.3 points per game and knocking down a career-high 319 three-pointers off the bench.
With their “Detroit vs. Everybody” mindset heading into the playoffs, Beasley’s comments reflect the confident and combative tone the Pistons are bringing into their clash with the third-seeded Knicks.
