According to court documents, the Georgian international was caught red-handed watching videos on his phone behind the wheel on the M6 motorway on January 27 local time. He was driving an Audi and holding the phone next to the steering wheel when officers stopped him and escorted him to the back of a police vehicle. Mamardashvili has been convicted of using a handheld mobile phone while driving. He was fined £440 and handed six penalty points on his driving licence. He was also ordered to pay £120 in court costs and a £176 victim surcharge. The court heard that Mamardashvili gave his name and presented his Georgian driving licence at the scene. The entire stop was fully recorded on the police body-worn camera.
