Sports News] During injury time in the match against Tottenham Hotspur,
Manchester City had a chance to launch a quick counterattack, but Erling
Haaland was fouled. Referee Simon Hooper allowed play to continue. Shortly
after, Jack Grealish had a solo opportunity, but Hooper stopped the game and
awarded a foul to Spurs for the earlier incident involving Haaland. Manchester
City players, including Haaland, expressed their dissatisfaction and surrounded
the referee. The Football Association (FA) has recently announced that
Manchester City are being charged with violating FA Rule E20.1. The charge is
related to the incident during the Premier League match against Tottenham on December
3, 2023, where Manchester City players surrounded the referee. Manchester City
have until December 7 to respond to the accusation. While the editor can
understand the frustration of the Manchester City players, the act of
surrounding the referee is likely to result in punishment.
