Sports News] Last summer, Manchester City announced a partnership with Japan’s
Asahi Beer, which involved featuring the beer brand’s trademark on the club’s
training uniforms. However, this collaboration has recently sparked protests
from the British fashion brand “Superdry.” It has been reported that
the Asahi product displayed on Manchester City’s training uniform is SUPER
“DRY” 0.0% beer, which is a non-alcoholic variation of Asahi’s iconic
SUPER DRY draft beer. Superdry argues that the name of this beer is too similar
to their own trademark. Consequently, Superdry has filed an injunction
application with the court to restrict Manchester City from using the trademark.
If the High Court approves Superdry’s injunction, Manchester City will be
prohibited from using the relevant products or making modifications. Thus far,
Manchester City have not issued a response to this matter. It remains to be
seen what the fans’ opinions are on this situation.
