[Saba Sports News] Mark Cuban’s decision to sell his stake in the Dallas Mavericks last year surprised many, but it was a carefully considered move.
Speaking on “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” Cuban shared his reasons: he wanted to avoid pressuring his kids to take over and acknowledged the NBA’s shift toward real estate and arena development, areas outside his expertise.
Cuban, who became Mavs owner in 2000, sold his majority stake to the Adelson family in December 2023.
However, he retains a minority share, the title of alternate governor, and control over day-to-day operations. Cuban also envisioned a new arena and a focus on legalized sports betting, entrusting this vision to a more experienced ownership
