[Saba Sports News] With Helmut Marko, who has long served as a racing advisor for the Red Bull Racing team, stepping down after the season, the 2026 season will mark Max Verstappen’s first year competing in F1 without Marko’s direct support. However, the 82-year-old Austrian has made it clear that although he has resigned, he will continue to support the four-time F1 world champion from the sidelines. The trust and friendship established between him and Verstappen will not be interrupted, and he is willing to continue acting as Verstappen’s mentor.
In an interview with Austrian media, Marko candidly stated that Verstappen has matured into one of the most complete and mature drivers in F1 history, possessing exceptional judgment and technical understanding. While he might no longer need Marko’s guidance, he remains available for a call whenever Verstappen wishes to reach out. Marko believes that even without his direct involvement, Verstappen will continue to achieve greatness in the future. He intends to accompany the world champion into this new phase as a friend and witness.
