[Saba Sports News] Former NFL stars Michael Robinson and Marshawn Lynch discussed on their “Get Got” podcast whether LeBron James could have succeeded in the NFL. Lynch confidently stated that LeBron would have been a great tight end but not one suited for blocking or gritty play.
Michael Robinson said, “Do you think LeBron would have been a great NFL player? Yeah, I think so. Tight end, wide receiver? I don’t know if he could have played wide receiver.”
Lynch agreed, adding, “Yeah, not in the trenches.”
Robinson compared him to Jimmy Graham, to which Lynch replied, “Then he would have been a great tight end. Just wouldn’t have been blocking for sh*t.”
LeBron’s potential as an NFL player has been a popular topic, with figures like Eagles star Jason Kelce suggesting LeBron could be a red zone threat after just one offseason of NFL training. However, not everyone agrees. NFL legend Shannon Sharpe, despite being a vocal supporter of LeBron, dismissed the idea of him becoming a great tight end, and Charles Barkley also expressed skepticism about LeBron’s NFL potential.
LeBron did play football in high school, and some believe he could have found success in the NFL had he pursued it. However, his decision to focus on basketball has clearly paid off, making him one of the greatest players in NBA history.
