[Saba Sports] Brazilian driver Felipe Massa continues to appeal to the FIA and former F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone regarding the ownership of the 2008 F1 Drivers’ Championship title, seeking the return of his championship title. Massa stated that his actions are not aimed at Lewis Hamilton, who won the championship that year. The notorious incident occurred during the 2008 F1 Singapore Grand Prix when the Renault team orchestrated a deliberate crash by Nelson Piquet Jr. to benefit teammate Fernando Alonso. Following that crash, Massa fell from first to thirteenth place due to a pit stop error, while Hamilton finished third. At the end of the season, Hamilton won the championship by a single point. Former F1 chief Bernie stated last April that, according to regulations, the FIA should have annulled the results of the Singapore race in such a case. This would mean Massa would be crowned champion instead of Hamilton, reducing Hamilton’s championship wins from seven to six. Since then, Massa has been appealing, believing that the FIA has an obligation to treat all drivers fairly.
