[Saba Sports News] Matt Barnes has no doubt — he sees the Boston Celtics as the team to beat in the NBA this season.
The 44-year-old veteran believes the defending champs are favorites for the 2024-25 title, especially with Jaylen Brown’s Olympic snub and limited playing time for Jayson Tatum providing extra motivation.
“I like Boston,” Barnes said in an interview. “Porzingis had time to get healthy, and Tatum and Brown have a chip on their shoulder after the Olympics. I like them in the East, although Philly and Milwaukee are still threats.”
Barnes sees Boston as a “safe bet” to win the East and go all the way, but he’s less certain about the West, where young teams like Oklahoma City and Minnesota are on the rise.
He predicts a competitive season and remains confident that the Celtics will repeat as champions.
