[Saba Sports News] Dallas Mavericks center Daniel Gafford just gave a local gym-goer a harsh reality check on the limits of confidence.
While visiting a gym in DeSoto, Texas—a suburb of Dallas—Gafford found himself challenged by a fan who boldly claimed he could block the NBA big man’s shot.
As expected, things didn’t go well for the challenger.
Gafford responded by unleashing a powerful windmill dunk right over the top of the fan, leaving no doubt about the outcome.
Several Instagram clips captured the moment, and Gafford himself chimed in on one post, explaining, “He said he could block my shot. So I tested that theory of his.”
Standing at 6’10” and known as “The Landlord” for his dominance in the paint, Gafford proved he still owns the lane—even outside the NBA hardwood. The fan, who appeared to be nearly a foot shorter, never had a real chance.
Though Gafford dealt with knee issues during the 2024–25 season, he still averaged 12.3 points and 6.8 rebounds over 57 games (31 starts). And clearly, even at less than 100 percent, he’s not someone you want to challenge in a gym unless you’re ready to get dunked on.
