[Saba Sports News] The Dallas Mavericks appear to be in full damage control mode.
Abby Jones of DLLS Sports reported Tuesday that the Mavs are offering refunds for their remaining home games this season to fans who have canceled their season tickets. With 16 home games left in the regular season, the refund is estimated to be around $2,000.
Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News also shared a statement from the Mavericks, which read, “We value every season ticket member relationship, and reps are available to take calls from members with any concerns or questions.”
Mavericks fans are furious following last weekend’s shocking trade that sent 25-year-old franchise star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Some have resorted to extreme protests outside American Airlines Center, while others are canceling their season tickets altogether.
A $2,000 refund might help soothe some frustration, but it does little to make up for the long-term disappointment of losing Doncic, a five-time First Team All-NBA selection who was expected to lead Dallas for the next decade.
Now, the Mavs can only hope their trade return of Anthony Davis and Max Christie helps them salvage the season and keep even more fans from walking away.
