[Saba Sports News] Since his debut in the Indian Premier League 2022 with only two List A matches to his name, Mayank Yadav has quickly become a sensation for the Lucknow Super Giants. Despite being sidelined during his first season and missing the next due to a hamstring injury, Yadav has returned with a vengeance in IPL 2024, showcasing his exceptional pace. In his debut match of the season against Punjab Kings, Yadav clocked a remarkable speed of 155.8 kph.
His prowess was on full display when he faced Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 2, hurling the season’s fastest delivery at 156.7 kph against Cameron Green, thus topping the IPL 2024 pace charts.
Yadav’s rapid ascent was highlighted by former South African speedster Dale Steyn, who lauded his performance on social media. Yadav’s record-breaking ball not only placed him first in the season’s fastest deliveries but also fourth in the all-time IPL records.
During a crucial match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Yadav was instrumental in dismantling RCB’s middle order. He delivered a swift blow to Glenn Maxwell with a 151 kph delivery, leading to Maxwell’s dismissal. His onslaught continued against Cameron Green and Rajat Patidar, effectively shaking RCB’s batting lineup.
With a knack for consistently delivering balls over 150 kph, Yadav has quickly become renowned for his speed, despite having bowled fewer than 50 balls in the tournament.
