[Saba Sports News] Recently, Red Bull Team Principal Laurent Mekies stated that McLaren’s recent on-track advantage has diminished, pointing out that the competitive landscape among the top four teams has now intensified, with multiple teams capable of winning races based on their performance. Speaking to media during the United States Grand Prix, Laurent Mekies revealed that Red Bull has closed the gap to McLaren in recent races. Laurent Mekies said: “In terms of relative performance, compared to the first half of the season, they no longer have the same advantage over us. Even when we won the Sprint in Belgium, our lap time was still about half a second slower than theirs; even after the summer break in Zandvoort, our lap time was probably still about half a second slower. But now the situation is different. We are now in a situation where, at every race weekend, three or four teams have the ability to fight for the win. If they can fully utilize their potential, they can achieve good results at that track.” Subsequently, Laurent Mekies further emphasized his point, stating that he doesn’t believe any team will hold a significant advantage in the final part of the season, and noting that race outcomes will likely depend on mastering the track and race conditions.
