[Saba Sports News] After the UEFA Champions League match between Manchester City and Feyenoord, the scratches on Josep Guardiola’s nose and forehead drew significant attention. In the post-match press conference, he joked, “I want to hurt myself.” In response, Enric Armengou, a psychiatry professor at Abat CEU University in Barcelona, stated in a media interview that Guardiola has not lost his mind. Armengou said that what happened to Guardiola illustrates his level of anxiety, but it was a unique incident that occurred during a particularly tense moment. His behavior represents a person’s limits, using self-harm as a way to self-regulate. Others might throw a notebook on the bench or kick a bottle. We shouldn’t attribute greater significance to this incident, as it was a moment of anger, and there are no signs indicating it reflects a negative trend, so it shouldn’t be a problem. You can’t blame him; he was just expressing himself. Guardiola is a passionate person during games, but we have no evidence that he has lost his mind.
